I spent so long curating how I showed up that I forgot what it felt like to just.. be.
Be present without narrating it. Be happy without proving it. Be quiet without it meaning something was wrong.
There was always an audience in my mind. Even when no one was watching, I was still performing.. adjusting my reactions, choosing words carefully, making sure the version of me that people saw was acceptable. Lovable. Easy.
But performing is exhausting when it never ends.
So I stopped.
Not in one big moment. Just in small, repeated choices. Letting myself sit in silence without filling it. Letting my face rest without smiling on command. Letting a moment pass without documenting it or explaining it to anyone.
And something unexpected happened.. I started to feel more like myself than I have in years.
Not the version I built for others. Not the version that made everyone comfortable. Just me. Unfiltered. Unpolished. Unperformed.
It's quieter here. But it's honest.
And I think I'd rather be quietly real than loudly curated.
This is what it feels like to finally stop auditioning for your own life.
