For a long time, choosing myself came with guilt.
I felt the need to soften my decisions, to explain them carefully, to make sure no one felt uncomfortable because of my growth. As if protecting my peace required permission.
But lately, something has shifted.
I’m learning that choosing myself doesn’t have to be loud or defensive. It doesn’t need a speech. It doesn’t need to be justified.
Some boundaries don’t come with warnings. Some decisions are made quietly. And some versions of me don’t exist to be understood by everyone.
I used to think that being kind meant always being available. Now I know it also means being honest with myself.
Choosing myself doesn’t mean I care less. It means I’m listening more closely to what I need.
And maybe that’s what growth looks like. Making choices that feel aligned, even when they’re not explained.
For now, I’m allowing myself that freedom.
Maybe this is part of becoming.
